Sauron, one of the Maiar of Tolkien’s other books, sought to envelop Middle Earth in darkness through his orcs and twisted humans. The Fellowship who sought to stop him is represented by the remaining free people of Middle Earth: men, elves, dwarves, and hobbits – a race who loved the quiet and simple life but will never be the same again after four of its sons decide to leave the comfort of their home called the Shire and do good for the rest of the world.
Did you know that the Orcs had to swish a licorice-based mouthwash to achieve the black blood mouth? Apparently the orcs have the natural color of their mouths. So the production had to improvise and asked the orcs to swish a licorice-based mouthwash prior to shooting each of their scenes.
