One of the most iconic jazz musicians to date, Davis is known for his monumental impact on the development of modern jazz music. Originally from Illinois, Davis was born Miles Dewey Davis III on May 26, 1926. Davis was a former student at The Juilliard School in New York, but he left his studies to join Charlie Parker's bebop quintet in 1944. Soon after, Davis released the Birth of the Cool album for Capitol Records. Miles Davis is also known for recording influential recordings like 'Round About Midnight, Sketches of Spain, Milestones and Kind of Blue. In the sixties, Davis released recordings like Someday My Prince Will Come in 1961, Seven Steps to Heaven, E.S.P. and Miles Smiles. A decade later, Davis explored another new direction by combining elements of funk, electronica, African rhythms and rock during the seventies. He continued to release records until his death in 1991 at the age of 65 years old. Davis was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Game in 2006 for having a monumental impact on the history of jazz. Jazz aficionados will love our selection of Miles Davis tshirts and gifts.
