This movie has always been an old favorite. It has everything; invisible super monster, evil(ish) scientist, alien technology, a hot chick, red shirts dying by the handful, and best of all, Robbie the Robot. If there were actually a god of nerds, this would be my best selling t shirt. As it is, it really only appeals to the occasional nerd. Nevertheless, I am happy to have it on our site.
Forbidden Planet was inspired by Shakespear's The Tempest, and Robbie was inspired by the sprite Ariel. Robbie stands at an impressive 6 foot 11 inches tall, although he is programmed to never harm humans, much to Dr. Morbius's dismay at the end of the movie.
If you are interested, you can buy your own very authentic Robbie the Robot costume from Hammacher Schlemmer for a mere $49,999.75 (the $.05 saving helps Hammacher Schlemmer pop up sooner on search engines than their competitors selling the $50,000 Robbie costumes). Personally, I think if you want to pay tribute to Robbie you could do so for a lot less just by buying this t shirt (and maybe a few more off my site).
