Description

TRV-PAR842-AS-1

This Volleyball Tournament Grey design comes from Top Gun, the 1986 film that turned naval aviation into a synth-scored recruitment poster and never apologised for it. The school is real. The United States Navy Fighter Weapons School was established at NAS Miramar in 1969 to teach dogfighting after air combat performance dropped off in Vietnam, and the call sign culture and squadron patches in the film come straight from it. Goose, played by Anthony Edwards, is the reason the film has any weight at all, and the volleyball scene is the reason it has a reputation for being about something other than flying.

The Fighter Weapons School is real, founded at NAS Miramar in 1969 to rebuild Navy dogfighting skill after Vietnam. For the sequel Tom Cruise insisted on real aircraft and in-cockpit photography, and the cast went through a months-long flight training programme to withstand the G-forces. This one is printed on a athletic heather unisex sweatshirt in sizes S through 3XL. Officially licensed and printed on heavyweight cotton.
