Top Gun: Maverick Plane Logo Tank Top

This Plane Logo design comes from Top Gun: Maverick, the 2022 sequel that waited thirty-six years and then insisted on putting the cast in real fighter jets. Top Gun was released in 1986, directed by Tony Scott and produced by Don Simpson and Jerry Bruckheimer, and it was the highest-grossing film of that year. It is built almost entirely out of surface: jets, aviators, a synth score and Tom Cruise grinning at people. The F-14 Tomcat is the other star. Its swing wings and the VF-1 squadron insignia are why so much of the merchandise is patch and insignia work rather than cast photography.

For the sequel Tom Cruise insisted on real aircraft and in-cockpit photography, and the cast went through a months-long flight training programme to withstand the G-forces. The volleyball sequence was shot in a single afternoon and has been parodied more than any other scene in the film. This one is printed on a black unisex tank top in sizes S through 2XL.
