Description
This Helmet design comes from Top Gun, the 1986 film that turned naval aviation into a synth-scored recruitment poster and never apologised for it. Top Gun was released in 1986, directed by Tony Scott and produced by Don Simpson and Jerry Bruckheimer, and it was the highest-grossing film of that year. It is built almost entirely out of surface: jets, aviators, a synth score and Tom Cruise grinning at people. Goose, played by Anthony Edwards, is the reason the film has any weight at all, and the volleyball scene is the reason it has a reputation for being about something other than flying.
Top Gun: Maverick was delayed repeatedly and finally released in 2022, thirty-six years after the original, and grossed over a billion dollars. The volleyball sequence was shot in a single afternoon and has been parodied more than any other scene in the film. This one is printed on a white unisex sweatshirt in sizes S through 3XL. A solid pick for anyone who still feels the need.
