The Goonies Sloth White Youth/Toddler T-Shirt

This Sloth White design comes from The Goonies, the 1985 film in which a group of kids from Astoria, Oregon go looking for pirate treasure to stop the bank taking their houses. It was shot largely in Astoria, Oregon, and the town has never stopped trading on it. The house used for the Walsh family is still a landmark, and the film is why a lot of people can place Astoria on a map at all. Sloth, played by John Matuszak under heavy prosthetics, was meant to be frightening and became the emotional centre of the film instead. Matuszak had been a professional footballer, and the makeup took hours every day.

Never Say Die is the Goonies motto and appears on the merchandise more than any line actually spoken in the film. It did modest business on release and became a fixture through television and home video, the same route The Wizard of Oz took to permanence.
