Description
This Pazuzu design comes from The Exorcist, the 1973 film that convinced a large part of the moviegoing public that it had made a serious mistake buying a ticket. Ellen Burstyn was injured during the sequence where Regan hurls her across the room — a rig yanked her hard enough to permanently damage her back, and her scream of pain is the take that is in the film. Max von Sydow was forty four when he played the elderly Father Merrin, buried under hours of aging makeup. Jason Miller, who plays the doubting Father Karras, was a playwright who had just won a Pulitzer and had barely acted on film.
The seventy five steps in Georgetown where Karras falls have been known as the Exorcist Steps ever since, and the city put up a plaque. Reports of fainting, vomiting and walkouts in theatres were real enough that some cinemas kept smelling salts at the counter. This one is printed on a light blue womens t-shirt in sizes S through 2XL. A good pick for anyone whose favourite scene is the one with the priests just talking.
