This Madcap Portrait design comes from Syd Barrett, the founder of Pink Floyd who named the band, wrote most of its first album, and was gone from it within two years. His songs are unlike anything else from the era: English, funny, unsettling and childlike at once. Arnold Layne and See Emily Play sound like nobody else, before or since.

He wrote or co-wrote nearly all of Pink Floyd's debut album. By the follow-up he had contributed a single track, and shortly after that he was no longer in the band.
