This Brak and Zorak design comes from Space Ghost Coast to Coast, the show that took a forgotten 1966 superhero, sat him behind a talk show desk, and accidentally invented Adult Swim. The show ran from 1994 to 2008 and became the seed of Adult Swim. The sensibility it established, cheap animation plus deadpan absurdity plus contempt for the format, runs straight through Sealab, Aqua Teen, Harvey Birdman and everything after.

Alex Toth designed the original 1966 character, and his stark, economical style is exactly why the face still reads as a graphic on a shirt sixty years later.
