This Dead Kenny design comes from South Park, the Comedy Central series that has been made out of construction paper, or something that looks like it, since 1997 and shows no sign of stopping. South Park premiered on Comedy Central in August 1997, created by Trey Parker and Matt Stone out of two crude animated shorts they made in college and then as a video Christmas card. The card got passed around Hollywood on VHS and became one of the first things to genuinely go viral before that was a word.

Episodes are produced in roughly six days, a schedule so unusual for animation that a documentary was made about it. It is why the show can be current in a way scripted comedy normally cannot.
