This Elmo Scribble design comes from Sesame Street, the show that has been teaching letters and numbers on public television since 1969 and has outlasted almost everything that ever shared a schedule with it. Sesame Street premiered on public television in November 1969, built by the Childrens Television Workshop around a genuinely radical idea: that the techniques of advertising could be turned on their head and used to teach letters and numbers to children who were not being reached any other way.

Elmo did not become the breakout character until the mid-1980s, long after the show established itself, and was originally a minor background monster with no fixed personality. This one is printed on a red unisex sweatshirt in sizes S through 3XL. Sizes run deep, with plus sizes and Tall fits on the core tee.
