Description
This Feats of Strength design comes from Seinfeld, the NBC series that spent nine seasons proving a sitcom about nothing could be about almost everything. Festivus came from the family of writer Dan O Keefe, whose father actually celebrated it. The aluminium pole, the Feats of Strength and the Airing of Grievances left the show and became a real December tradition for a lot of people, which was never the plan. The famous description, a show about nothing, is something the series says about itself: in season four George and Jerry pitch exactly that idea to NBC, and the network executives hate it. The show was always happy to explain its own joke and then keep going.
Monk cafe is Tom Restaurant at Broadway and 112th Street, and the same building appears on the cover of a Suzanne Vega song about it. The Soup Nazi was based on Al Yeganeh, a genuinely exacting soup vendor on West 55th Street who did not enjoy the attention. This one is printed on a white unisex sweatshirt in sizes S through 3XL. Grab it for yourself or for the friend who still says these pretzels are making them thirsty.
