It has been more than 45 years since Jaws was first released in theaters but this film still scares anyone who watches it. The story begins on Amity Island where a young lady named Chrissie Watkins went skinny dipping in the ocean during a beach party. The following day, her body was found on the shore but the medic’s concluded that she died due to a shark attack which led to the closing of the beaches in the area. But the mayor insisted on reversing the decision because of the fear that the town’s economy would suffer. But another boy was killed due to a shark attack again and this prompted the officials to put a bounty on the shark for $10,000.
Did you know that Steven Spielberg was hesitant to get the job of directing this film? During the early days of the film, producers Richard Zanuck and David Brown were eager to adapt the novel to the big screen. Although Spielberg refused in the beginning, he was eventually persuaded by the producers, and boy he made the right choice of making the film.
