Platoon

Oliver Stone served in Vietnam with the 25th Infantry Division and spent roughly a decade trying to get Platoon financed before anyone would take it. The film sets two sergeants against each other and puts a new arrival between them; the war is the setting, and the argument about what it permits is the story.
