May the Fourth Be With You!

For Star Wars fans all across the galaxy, one of the most long-awaited days of the year is finally here—May 4th! Whether you’re celebrating with a movie marathon, drinking homemade blue milk, or indulging in some Star Wars shopping, we’ve got a ton of news to report. We decided to round up all the latest Star Wars headlines, along with some fun ideas to celebrate the holiday. After the untimely death of Carrie Fisher, this year marks the first May the Fourth holiday without our beloved princess. There are officially 224 days until The Last Jedi hits theaters, and not a moment to waste, so now is the perfect time to get caught up on all the breaking Star Wars news.

During Star Wars Celebration, the hotly anticipated trailer for The Last Jedi was finally unveiled to the public. While we were thrilled to see Rey, Finn, and Poe back in action, seeing Carrie Fisher again as General Organa left many feeling pained. In case you missed it, we took notes on the entire panel covering everything about the upcoming film.

In the trailer, we were able to hear Luke utter a full line, "It's time for the Jedi to end", albeit it was an ominous one. In Episode VIII, we will also get introduced to a new character called Rose, played by newcomer Kelly Marie Tran. A maintenance worker in the Resistance, Rose will embark on an adventure to a new planet called Canto Bight with Finn. While we patiently count down the days, hours and seconds until December 15th, at least we can console ourselves by shopping for necessities. (BB-8 Sculpted Mug, anyone?)

Next to The Last Jedi, the now Untitled Han Solo Star Wars Anthology Film has been causing some serious buzz. So far, we know that the film will be directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller. The pair is known for their comedic work with animated films like Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs and The Lego Movie, along with live-action comedies like 21 Jump Street and the sequel, 22 Jump Street. Alden Ehrenreich has been cast as young Han Solo, and the 27-year-old actor is best known for his roles in Beautiful Creatures, Hail, Caesar! and Stoker.

Donald Glover will play a certain smooth-talking galactic entrepreneur, none other than young Lando Calrissian. In addition to his roles in The Martian and Atlanta, Glover is also actively involved in music. Known as Childish Gambino, Glover has released several albums and contributed to the soundtrack for Creed. Donald has also landed the role of Simba in the upcoming live-action version of The Lion King, set for a 2019 release. You can also watch out for Glover in Spider-Man: Homecoming this summer. New additions to the cast include Woody Harrelson as Beckett, Thandie Newton, and Daenerys Targaryen herself, Emilia Clarke. We’ll keep you updated on more news regarding the upcoming title. The Han Solo spin-off film will be released on May 25, 2018.

If May the Fourth isn’t quite a household tradition for you (yet!), here are only a few ways to celebrate the holiday. Star Wars has a slew of recipe ideas that are out of this world, including Bantha Burgers and tips on how to throw your own Star Wars party. We have to admit, the Salacious Crumb Cakes, BB-8 Donuts and Ahsoka Pumpkin Muffins are almost too adorable to eat.
