The USFL Showboats were a professional American football team based in Memphis, Tennessee. The team was a member of the United States Football League (USFL), a spring football league that operated from 1983 to 1985. Owned by businessman William R. "Billy" Dunavant Jr. and coached by Pepper Rodgers. They played their home games at the Liberty Bowl Memorial Stadium in Memphis. The Showboats had a strong fan base and enjoyed some success during their existence. One of the notable players who played for the Showboats was quarterback Reggie White, who went on to have a Hall of Fame career in the National Football League (NFL). The team also had other talented players such as running back Tim Spencer and wide receiver Greg Moser.
