This Let the Wild Rumpus Start design comes from Where the Wild Things Are, Maurice Sendak's picture book about a boy named Max who sails off to an island of monsters and becomes their king. Max, sent to bed without supper for making mischief in his wolf suit, watches a forest grow in his room and sails away to the land of the wild things. The book won the Caldecott Medal in 1964 and has remained one of the best-known picture books ever published.

Maurice Sendak both wrote and illustrated it. Max tames the Wild Things by staring into their yellow eyes without blinking. This one is printed on a black youth t-shirt in sizes Youth S through Toddler 3T.
