This Silhouette design comes from Under the Dome, the series that dropped an invisible barrier over a small Maine town and left everyone inside to sort it out. The real subject is not the dome. It is what a community does when the rules stop being enforced from outside, which is the same question most of the best King stories are actually asking. The premise is a pure pressure cooker: an invisible, impenetrable dome drops over Chester Mill, Maine, cutting the town off completely. Nobody knows where it came from, nothing gets in or out, and the people inside have to work out how to live.

The town is Chester Mill, Maine, which places it in the same fictional geography King has been building since Salem Lot. Brian K.
