Top Gun Tomcat Patch Crewneck Sweatshirt

This Tomcat Patch design comes from Top Gun, the 1986 film that turned naval aviation into a synth-scored recruitment poster and never apologised for it. Top Gun: Maverick arrived in 2022, thirty-six years later, with Cruise insisting on real aircraft and practical photography. It grossed well over a billion dollars and is one of the very few legacy sequels that outperformed the original. The school is real. The United States Navy Fighter Weapons School was established at NAS Miramar in 1969 to teach dogfighting after air combat performance dropped off in Vietnam, and the call sign culture and squadron patches in the film come straight from it.

Because I was inverted is Maverick explaining how he got a photograph of a MiG pilot, and it has outlived most of the rest of the dialogue.
