Description
This Amusement design comes from The Warriors, the 1979 film in which a Coney Island gang has to cross the whole of New York on foot with every other gang in the city hunting them. Hill shot it like a comic book on purpose, with saturated colour and each gang given a single strong visual idea. The Baseball Furies in face paint and pinstripes, the Rogues in their hoods, the Lizzies, the Turnbull ACs — every one reads instantly. The Warriors was released in 1979, directed by Walter Hill from the Sol Yurick novel, which itself reworked Xenophon Anabasis — a Greek account of soldiers fighting their way home through hostile territory. The film keeps that shape exactly: nine men, one long night, the wrong end of the city.
The plot is a direct reworking of Xenophon Anabasis, the ancient Greek account of an army fighting its way home through enemy land. Come out to play was improvised on set by David Patrick Kelly, who also supplied the three bottles he clinks together. This one is printed on a white womens t-shirt in sizes S through 2XL. Sizes run deep, with plus sizes and Tall fits on the core tee.
