Description
This Rolling Deep design comes from The Warriors, the 1979 film in which a Coney Island gang has to cross the whole of New York on foot with every other gang in the city hunting them. The film opened to real trouble in cinemas and Paramount pulled its advertising, which only made it more notorious. It became a cult object almost immediately. The Warriors was released in 1979, directed by Walter Hill from the Sol Yurick novel, which itself reworked Xenophon Anabasis — a Greek account of soldiers fighting their way home through hostile territory. The film keeps that shape exactly: nine men, one long night, the wrong end of the city.
Paramount withdrew advertising after violence at some early screenings, which turned the film into an underground reputation rather than a hit. Walter Hill gave each gang one strong visual idea so they would read instantly, which is why the Baseball Furies and the Rogues are still recognisable decades later. This one is printed on a white unisex t-shirt in sizes S through 5XL. A solid pick for anyone who has ever clinked two bottles together just to hear it.
