The Hobbit Laketown Youth/Toddler T-Shirt

This Laketown design comes from The Hobbit, Peter Jackson's return to Middle-earth, which turned a short children's book into three very long films. It was shot at 48 frames per second rather than the standard 24, a format Jackson championed and audiences largely disliked — it made elaborate sets look like television. Very few films have used it since. The dwarves are the merchandising engine and the reason this design set is so large: thirteen of them, each with a badge and a portrait, plus Bilbo and Gandalf. Whatever the films' reputation, the character design work is genuinely excellent.

Guillermo del Toro spent two years developing the films and was set to direct before scheduling forced him out, leaving much of his design work in place. They were shot at 48 frames per second instead of 24, a format that divided audiences and has barely been used since. This one is printed on a white youth t-shirt in sizes Youth S through Toddler 4T.
