This Thorin Poster design comes from The Hobbit, Peter Jackson's return to Middle-earth, which turned a short children's book into three very long films. It was shot at 48 frames per second rather than the standard 24, a format Jackson championed and audiences largely disliked — it made elaborate sets look like television. Very few films have used it since. Guillermo del Toro developed it for two years and was to direct, then left when the schedule slipped past what he could commit to. Jackson took over having already designed much of it around someone else's vision, which is part of why the trilogy feels different from the first three films.
