Description
This Annual #1 Cover design comes from Superman, the character who invented the superhero in 1938 and has never really stopped being the argument about what one should be. Doomsday killed him in 1992 and the issue sold in the millions. He was back inside a year, which is the shape most comic deaths have taken since. He could not fly at first. The early stories had him leap an eighth of a mile, which is where 'able to leap tall buildings in a single bound' comes from; flight arrived later, largely because the animators found leaping awkward to draw.
The S-shield is the crest of the House of El and means hope. Siegel and Shuster sold the character for 130 dollars. This one is printed on a black youth t-shirt in sizes Youth S through Toddler 3T.
