Description
This Chained Shield design comes from Superman, the character who invented the superhero in 1938 and has never really stopped being the argument about what one should be. He could not fly at first. The early stories had him leap an eighth of a mile, which is where 'able to leap tall buildings in a single bound' comes from; flight arrived later, largely because the animators found leaping awkward to draw. The S is not an S. Post-Crisis continuity makes it the crest of the House of El, a Kryptonian symbol meaning hope.
Siegel and Shuster sold the character for 130 dollars. Kryptonite was created for the radio serial before it reached the comics. This one is printed on a black unisex tank top in sizes S through 2XL.
