This Cast in the Gate design comes from Stargate SG-1, the series that took a single 1994 film and turned it into ten seasons of stepping through a ring into somewhere else. The premise is beautifully simple. An ancient ring buried in Egypt connects to a network of other rings across the galaxy, and a small military team walks through it to see what is on the other side. What is on the other side is usually a problem. Richard Dean Anderson plays Colonel Jack O Neill, who treats galactic diplomacy as an inconvenience. Amanda Tapping plays Samantha Carter, the astrophysicist who actually understands the technology. Michael Shanks plays Daniel Jackson and Christopher Judge plays Teal c, a defector from the enemy.

The replicators are self-assembling blocks that eat technology, and they were introduced partly because they were cheaper to animate than another humanoid enemy. The series ran ten seasons and was, when it ended, the longest-running North American science fiction show ever produced. This one is printed on a black unisex t-shirt in sizes S through 3XL.
