Description
This Juan Ortiz I Mudd design comes from Star Trek: The Original Series, the 1966 show NBC cancelled after three seasons and syndication turned into a religion. Leonard Nimoy adapted the Vulcan salute from a Jewish priestly blessing he had seen as a child in synagogue. He improvised it on set because the script simply said the Vulcans greet each other. Gene Roddenberry sold it to the network as a western in space, which is how a show about diplomacy, ethics and a pacifist science officer got made in the middle of the 1960s at all.
Martin Luther King Jr. personally persuaded Nichelle Nichols not to leave the show. Tribbles were built in a weekend from fake fur and simple motors, and the episode is the most beloved of the run. This one is printed on a white womens t-shirt in sizes S through 2XL. Officially licensed and printed on heavyweight cotton.
