Star Trek Command Badge Crewneck Sweatshirt

This Command Badge design comes from Star Trek, where you can tell a crew member's division from across the room by the colour of the shirt. Very few costumes in television are legible at a glance the way a Starfleet uniform is. In The Original Series gold means command, blue means sciences and medical, and red means operations, engineering and security, which is how an entire joke about mortality rates entered the language. The Original Series uniforms were cut from velour, which shrank every time it was cleaned and had to be replaced continually through the run. The colour logic was not fixed either: by The Next Generation command and operations had swapped, putting Picard in red and Worf in gold.
