This Beyond Logo design comes from the Star Trek films, where the franchise learned how to break your heart. The Voyage Home sent the crew to San Francisco in 1986 to collect two humpback whales, and became the most successful of the original-cast films by being, essentially, a comedy. First Contact took the Next Generation crew and the Borg and produced the best film of that era. The 2009 reboot did something unusual: rather than overwrite what came before, it branched. A Romulan incursion destroys the USS Kelvin, history diverges from that moment, and the original timeline stays intact. The branch is named for the lost ship.

The Borg Queen was invented for First Contact - before that film the Collective had no single leader at all.
