Description
This Juan Ortiz Patterns of Force design comes from Star Trek: The Original Series, the 1966 show NBC cancelled after three seasons and syndication turned into a religion. Nichelle Nichols planned to quit after the first season until Martin Luther King Jr. told her that a Black woman on the bridge of a starship was worth staying for. She stayed, and spent years afterward recruiting astronauts for NASA, among them Sally Ride and Guion Bluford. Gene Roddenberry sold it to the network as a western in space, which is how a show about diplomacy, ethics and a pacifist science officer got made in the middle of the 1960s at all.
NASA named its first space shuttle Enterprise after a write-in campaign by fans. The first pilot, The Cage, starred Jeffrey Hunter as Captain Pike and was rejected as too cerebral. This one is printed on a white unisex long sleeve t-shirt in sizes S through 3XL. Officially licensed and printed on heavyweight cotton.
