Star Trek Command Shield Pullover Hoodie

This Command Shield design comes from Star Trek, where you can tell a crew member's division from across the room by the colour of the shirt. The Academy is also where Starfleet keeps the Kobayashi Maru, a test built to be unwinnable so instructors can see how a cadet behaves when there is no good option left. Kirk reprogrammed it and was given a commendation for original thinking rather than a reprimand. The Original Series uniforms were cut from velour, which shrank every time it was cleaned and had to be replaced continually through the run. The colour logic was not fixed either: by The Next Generation command and operations had swapped, putting Picard in red and Worf in gold.

Starfleet Academy is in San Francisco and its motto is Ex Astris, Scientia — from the stars, knowledge. By The Next Generation the colours had swapped, moving red to command and gold to operations.
