Description
This Horseman design comes from Sleepy Hollow, the 1999 Tim Burton film that turned a short American ghost story into a gothic murder mystery with a great deal of blood in the snow. Danny Elfman wrote the score, one of the more gothic entries in a long partnership with Burton, built on choir and strings rather than the playful themes of their earlier films. Sleepy Hollow was released in 1999, directed by Tim Burton, and it takes enormous liberties with the Washington Irving story it is named after. In the 1820 original, Ichabod Crane is a superstitious schoolteacher and the ending is a joke at his expense. Here he is a New York constable who believes in forensic evidence and faints at the sight of blood.
Sleepy Hollow is a real village in Westchester County, New York, and it renamed itself officially in 1996 on the strength of the legend. Christopher Walken has no English dialogue as the Horseman. He communicates entirely through screaming, and his teeth were filed to points for the role. This one is printed on a black unisex t-shirt in sizes S through 6XL. A good pick for anyone who prefers their autumn horror in fog and candlelight.
