This Prognosis Negative design comes from Seinfeld, the NBC series that spent nine seasons proving a sitcom about nothing could be about almost everything. Festivus came from the family of writer Dan O Keefe, whose father actually celebrated it. The aluminium pole, the Feats of Strength and the Airing of Grievances left the show and became a real December tradition for a lot of people, which was never the plan. Seinfeld premiered on NBC in July 1989 as The Seinfeld Chronicles and ran nine seasons to May 1998, created by Jerry Seinfeld and Larry David. The pilot tested so poorly that the network ordered only four more episodes, which is now one of the most quoted facts in television history.

Kramer is named for Kenny Kramer, who really did live across the hall from Larry David and who later ran bus tours of Seinfeld locations in New York. The Soup Nazi was based on Al Yeganeh, a genuinely exacting soup vendor on West 55th Street who did not enjoy the attention. This one is printed on a banana womens t-shirt in sizes S through 2XL. Officially licensed and printed on heavyweight cotton.
