Riverdale Betty and Veronica Youth/Toddler T-Shirt

This Betty and Veronica design comes from Riverdale, the series that took the sunniest characters in American comics and moved them into a neon-lit town where something is always wrong. Riverdale premiered on The CW in 2017, developed by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, who was also the chief creative officer of Archie Comics. That dual role is why the show could take characters published since 1941 and reinvent them this aggressively without anyone stopping it. The pitch is Archie by way of Twin Peaks. Archie, Betty, Veronica and Jughead are still teenagers in a small town with a diner, but the first season opens on a dead student and never really lets the town be pleasant again.

Archie Andrews has been published continuously since 1941, which makes him older than almost every other character with a current live-action series.
