This Stimpy Est. 91 design comes from The Ren and Stimpy Show, the 1991 Nicktoon that spent three seasons finding out exactly how much a childrens network would tolerate. What survived is the design language. Ren and Stimpy read instantly at any size, the lettering is loud, and the catchphrases got absorbed into a generation of vocabulary whether anyone meant them to or not.

Stimpy was voiced by Billy West, who went on to voice most of Futurama. Kricfalusi voiced Ren himself, which is part of why the performance sounds like someone genuinely losing his temper.
