Description
This Retro Splat Logo design comes from Nickelodeon, the orange-splat network that spent the 1980s and 90s building kids television into something with a genuine house style — and turning green slime into a cultural institution. Nickelodeon started life in 1979 as the first cable channel made entirely for kids, grown out of a local Columbus, Ohio programme called Pinwheel. The famous orange splat did not arrive until a 1984 rebrand that threw out the earnest rainbow-striped look and replaced it with something loud, messy and instantly recognisable.
The green slime was not even a Nickelodeon invention — it came from the Canadian series You Can't Do That on Television, where saying I don't know got you drenched. The network liked it so much it became the house symbol. This one is printed on a white unisex sweatshirt in sizes S through 3XL. Sized for the grown-up who watched it the first time around, with Tall fits on the core tee.
