Betty Boop I Love Betty Red Youth Long Sleeve T-Shirt

This I Love Betty Red design comes from Betty Boop, the Jazz Age cartoon star who has outlived nearly every character she shared a screen with. The singer Helen Kane sued over the character in 1932, claiming it copied her boop-oop-a-doop delivery. She lost in 1934 after the defence produced evidence that the scat style predated her, including performances by Baby Esther Jones. She did not start out human. The original character was drawn as an anthropomorphic dog, and across the next two years the floppy ears were redrawn into hoop earrings and the snout into a button nose.

Betty Boop debuted in 1930 in the short Dizzy Dishes. She was originally drawn as a dog, and her ears became her hoop earrings. This one is printed on a red youth long sleeve t-shirt in sizes Youth S through Youth XL.
