Betty Boop Hula Boop II V-Neck T-Shirt

This Hula Boop II design comes from Betty Boop, the Jazz Age cartoon star who has outlived nearly every character she shared a screen with. Cab Calloway performed for several shorts and was rotoscoped into them, so the ghost and the walrus in Minnie the Moocher and Snow-White move with his actual dance steps. The singer Helen Kane sued over the character in 1932, claiming it copied her boop-oop-a-doop delivery. She lost in 1934 after the defence produced evidence that the scat style predated her, including performances by Baby Esther Jones.

She was originally drawn as a dog, and her ears became her hoop earrings. Betty Boop debuted in 1930 in the short Dizzy Dishes. This one is printed on a black unisex v-neck t-shirt in sizes S through 2XL.
