Betty Boop Boop Icon Creeper

This Boop Icon design comes from Betty Boop, the Jazz Age cartoon star who has outlived nearly every character she shared a screen with. The Hays Code caught up with the series in 1934 and the studio was made to lengthen her hemline and tone the shorts down; fans have argued ever since that it took the life out of them. The singer Helen Kane sued over the character in 1932, claiming it copied her boop-oop-a-doop delivery. She lost in 1934 after the defence produced evidence that the scat style predated her, including performances by Baby Esther Jones.

Cab Calloway was rotoscoped into several of the cartoons. She was originally drawn as a dog, and her ears became her hoop earrings. This one is printed on a white youth t-shirt in sizes Infant 6M through Infant 24M.
