The Hobbit
Tolkien's The Hobbit was published in 1937. Peter Jackson turned it into three films: An Unexpected Journey (2012), The Desolation of Smaug (2013) and The Battle of the Five Armies (2014), with Martin Freeman as Bilbo Baggins and Benedict Cumberbatch providing both the voice and the motion capture for the dragon Smaug. The trilogy was shot at 48 frames per second, twice the standard film rate.
