Star Trek Juan Ortiz Art

Graphic designer Juan Ortiz set himself a task: one poster for every episode of Star Trek: The Original Series. All 79, plus the rejected first pilot, The Cage. What makes the set remarkable is that no two are drawn alike. Each poster is built in a different vintage style, chosen to suit the episode, so The Trouble With Tribbles arrives as a cheerful mid-century children's book cover, Space Seed as a lurid pulp paperback, Amok Time as a Japanese woodblock print, and The City on the Edge of Forever as something closer to an Eastern European art house poster.

It began as a personal project and became official. CBS licensed the series, and the complete run was collected in Star Trek: The Art of Juan Ortiz, published by Titan Books in 2013. The reason the posters work is that they are not illustrations of the episodes so much as arguments about them. Ortiz finds the single image that carries the whole story, then throws everything else away. An entire hour of television reduced to a hand, a flower, a silhouette.

Every poster in the set is here, each available on white and on black. Officially licensed Star Trek t-shirts printed on heavyweight cotton, with womens tees, long sleeves, hoodies and youth sizes across the range, and adult sizes up to 6XL including Tall fits.
