Teen Wolf

A short, unremarkable high schooler discovers that lycanthropy runs in the family, and immediately uses it to get good at basketball. Teen Wolf arrived in 1985 with Michael J. Fox as Scott Howard, shot before Back to the Future but released weeks after it, which is why Fox was suddenly a superstar when it landed. It inverts the werewolf film completely: the town loves the Wolf, and the only real question is whether Scott would rather be adored as something he is not.
