Bruce Lee

Bruce Lee was born in San Francisco in 1940, while his father was touring with a Cantonese opera company, and grew up in Hong Kong. He won the Hong Kong cha-cha championship in 1958, and the footwork shows in how he moved in a fight. The one-inch punch he demonstrated at Long Beach in 1964 is what put him in front of American television producers, and The Green Hornet followed in 1966. Jeet Kune Do, the way of the intercepting fist, was his own method, built on the idea that fixed styles trap a fighter. Enter the Dragon opened weeks after his death in 1973, at thirty-two.
