DC Universe
DC began in 1934 as National Allied Publications, and the company took its name from Detective Comics, which launched in 1937. Superman arrived in Action Comics #1 in 1938, Batman in Detective Comics #27 in 1939, and Wonder Woman in All Star Comics #8 in 1941. Nearly everything in superhero comics since has built on those three debuts.
