The Wizard of Oz Crystal Ball Youth Long Sleeve T-Shirt

This Crystal Ball design comes from The Wizard of Oz, the 1939 film that almost nobody saw as a hit and that television then turned into the most watched movie ever made. Judy Garland was sixteen when she played Dorothy. Over the Rainbow was very nearly cut from the film entirely because an executive thought it slowed the opening, and it went on to win the Academy Award for Best Song. The production was famously difficult. It went through several directors, the Tin Man was recast after the original actor reacted badly to aluminium dust makeup, and the Wicked Witch makeup was toxic enough to restrict what Margaret Hamilton could eat.

Buddy Ebsen was the original Tin Man and had to leave the production after a severe reaction to the aluminium powder makeup. The transition from sepia Kansas to colour Oz was a technical showpiece, and the Technicolor lighting made the set brutally hot to work in.
