TRV-PAR777-AS-1

This Fightertown 1986 design comes from Top Gun, the 1986 film that turned naval aviation into a synth-scored recruitment poster and never apologised for it. The Navy cooperated closely and set up recruiting tables in cinema lobbies. Enlistment jumped sharply, and the film remains the most effective recruitment advertisement any military has ever had made for it by accident. Top Gun was released in 1986, directed by Tony Scott and produced by Don Simpson and Jerry Bruckheimer, and it was the highest-grossing film of that year. It is built almost entirely out of surface: jets, aviators, a synth score and Tom Cruise grinning at people.

The Fighter Weapons School is real, founded at NAS Miramar in 1969 to rebuild Navy dogfighting skill after Vietnam. The Navy set up recruiting tables in cinema lobbies during the 1986 run, and naval aviation enlistment rose sharply. This one is printed on a navy unisex sweatshirt in sizes S through 3XL. Sizes run deep, with plus sizes and Tall fits on the core tee.
