At the time it finished it was the longest-running North American science fiction series ever made, a record it held for years.

The series ran ten seasons and was, when it ended, the longest-running North American science fiction show ever produced. The replicators are self-assembling blocks that eat technology, and they were introduced partly because they were cheaper to animate than another humanoid enemy.
