This Juan Ortiz Turnabout Intruder Black design comes from Star Trek: The Original Series, the 1966 show NBC cancelled after three seasons and syndication turned into a religion. Leonard Nimoy adapted the Vulcan salute from a Jewish priestly blessing he had seen as a child in synagogue. He improvised it on set because the script simply said the Vulcans greet each other. Nichelle Nichols planned to quit after the first season until Martin Luther King Jr. told her that a Black woman on the bridge of a starship was worth staying for. She stayed, and spent years afterward recruiting astronauts for NASA, among them Sally Ride and Guion Bluford.

The transporter was invented to avoid the cost of landing the ship every episode. Martin Luther King Jr. personally persuaded Nichelle Nichols not to leave the show. This one is printed on a black unisex sweatshirt in sizes S through 4XL. Grab it for yourself or for the friend who still argues about the Kobayashi Maru.

Features:

  • Black Unisex Sweatshirt
  • 80% cotton, 20% polyester
  • Front print
