Space 1999 ran two series and 48 episodes and changed shape between them: the second brought in Catherine Schell as Maya, a shape-shifting alien, and a new producer in Fred Freiberger, who had previously run the third season of Star Trek. Fans have argued about which series is the better show ever since.
